3D Art | September 2016
This medieval castle sits right at the shore of river Venta in Ventspils, Latvia not far from where it flows in the Baltic Sea. It was built in the 13th century; it is currently used mostly as a museum and serves as the symbol of town Ventspils (it is pretty nicely done - check it here.
I reckon this model took me some 6 hours to do. Some of the proportions were quite tricky to get right and the colors were not an easy job either, but I like how it turned out at the end.
Check out some images of the actual castle.
Here are a couple of renders I did on the way just to keep track of the process:
1. The general shape of the building
2. Roofs added
3. A few details on the walls + color finetuning (for the worse, I know)
4. Added more detail on the walls of the tower
5. Windows and all finishing detail added + back to more subtle colors
Here is the model from various angles.
Here it is in the wireframe mode.
I have shared this 3d model on Dribbble, so give some love to this shot and follow me.
